Happy Mother's Day

We had a great time having friends over for Mother's Day this year. Our friends are like family to us, and I can't imagine spending the day with anyone else!

We have been spending Mother's Day together with them for several years now at the Sawtooth Winery Mother's Day Event, but this year we decided to have our own "food and wine event" at our house. And so glad we did!

I used the Scraptastic Club May 2015 "Janglin" main kit and add-on with a few photos from that day for my layout. I turned my photos black and white so they stand out and don't get lost in the many colors and patterns of the background.

These vibrant and happy papers worked perfectly for my photos because they help convey the fun time we had that day!

 At Scraptastic, we were challenged to do a 2-page layout, which I normally don't do, but I really enjoyed it! It was like working on a great big canvas! While I was working on the 2 pages together, I tried to design them so that each page could stand alone individually as it's own layout, as well as a 2-page spread. You can see several of the other design team members' 2-page layouts on the featured Scraptastic blog post here.

The words "live" as well as the "&" symbol are part of the pink background paper. I used my exacto knife to cut around them and then added an additional small circle to create a more layered look. 

 Isn't that foil camera sticker awesome?! 

 Lots of cute embellies with gold accents in the kit, and those little rows of vellum triangles are exclusive to Scraptastic. 

 The white die-cut words/phrases that come in the kit each month are also an exclusive from Scraptastic. Love those! This one is from a previous month's kit. It worked perfectly for this page so I had to use it!

Confetti and A Journey

Hi all! Are you enjoying the weather as much as I am? Our temps have been reaching into the upper 70's and I am loving it! The weather has even been cooperative enough for me to take my projects outside (things always look better in natural light) to photograph them for Scraptastic Club. Lucky me!

My first page uses product from the Confetti Collection by Maggie Holmes and is over-the-top layered with all kinds of adorable goodies! Because when you are the cutest little girl on the planet, and you are celebrating your first birthday, nothing else will do!

That is my niece, Chloe. Precious little princess! Such a sweet little blessing to the family!

LOVE all of the embellies in this collection! Pinks, florals, banners, polka dots, stars, glitter and GOLD. All the things a little girl needs for a party! Who are we kidding? These are all things all girls need all.the.time!

I added a bit of pink & white bakers twine here and there for even more dimension and texture.

So many photography-themed embellies in this collection, like this Polaroid tag. Can you tell I love using tags on my pages? So fun! 

 

More and more layering! This was seriously a fun page to create. And a gold "C" for Miss Chloe herself. :)

This next page uses pics from our road trip to and from Houston, TX, in March/April. Check out the size of that arrow next to the hubs! We stumbled upon it in Kent, CO. It was created to commemorate the Comanche Trail followed by thousands of Native Americans south to Mexico to evade U.S. Cavalry. The teepee was in someone's yard down the road from the arrow. :) 

LIFE IS A JOURNEY

So glad that the Journey Collection by Crate Paper match perfectly! My journaling (Traveler's Checklist) is no joke, btw. I found out the hard way that the more South you go, the meaner the bugs. Fire ants, specifically. Not everyone reacts severely to the bites. I do. I have the scars to prove it.

LOVE those tiny gold triangle puffy stickers! And check out my little sign with the hemp cord! I cut the sentiment from patterned paper, distressed it, and then added it to the "stick" sticker.  

More tags! This tag perfectly conveys how I feel about traveling with Andy. He is my forever travel companion, and I simply adore the time we spend together exploring new places!

Happy Nat'l Scrapbooking Day!!!

Hi everyone! Happy National Scrapbooking Day!!!

This photo is of Miss Anna at WDW. She had really messy hair that morning, so I just happened to snap a pic of her looking not-so-princess-like!

I put this color challenge together using a couple of photos I took last November in the Morocco pavilion at EPCOT. That pavilion is always my fave visually because of all the colors and textures. It truly is something to see!
