I have been back from Greece for three weeks now, but I can still smell the ocean breeze and feel the warm sun on my face from this spot on our balcony overlooking the Caldera of the island of Santorini.
No photo, or scrapbook page for that matter, can describe waking up to this view! Incredible. Just incredible. This memory is burned deep in my soul.
SANTORINI SUNRISE
For this page, I really couldn't use a bunch of heavy, layered papers and products. It just wouldn't be right. Not for this photo. So I started out with a big rectangle blocky piece of the orange/yellow/pink paper. Nope. Still too much. Then it hit me to adapt the paper to look more like the sunrise. So I cut, tore, cut some more, and sanded til I got the soft, watercolor effect I was going for. Of course, since the island of Santorini is filled with lots of little buildings covered in whitewash, I wanted to keep the background and title very white and simple using plain white cardstock. The diagonal striped paper gives the photo a place to "sit", and the banners at the top, as well as the flowers, flair badge and epoxy dots give some needed texture and balance.
Of course, all of the products I used are from the ever-versatile Scraptastic Club October 2014 "Heart It Races" kit.
