Hi all! I have nearly half of my tags done, and am dying to share them all with you! I just love making these little goodies, and I just know they will look great once they are all up hanging on my wall. :) I found the perfect wire display holder thingy at Crafter's Warehouse- I swear it was made for these tags!
Okay, so let's get started! This next tag really had me digging thru my stash, so as always, USE WHAT YOU HAVE and see what fun and creative things you can come up with!
Tag #2
Spray tag with a brownish color of spray mist, and dry with a heat tool. The pic below is what the tag looks like before drying.
Step2:
Cover with torn pieces of old book paper (mine is actually from a book called "Thanksgiving"- how cool is that? It is fun to peruse old book stores for great old books with cool titles that you can use for projects just like this. This page was sent to me by a friend). Ink edges of tag with brown ink using your ink blending tool.
Step 3:
Add more colors of ink of your choosing and blend with a swirling motion using your ink blending tool. I used an orange color to add richness and warmth. It also helped the torn edges of my book paper stand out.
Okay, there is a couple different steps for the picture below, but I forgot to take a pic of each step, and only had one piece of chipboard to work with, so here goes:
I used an old chipboard label with an embossed edge, and cut it down to fit my tag, slightly overlapping tag on one side. I then covered it with crackle paint, allowed to dry, sprayed it with a dark brown mist, and rubbed the mist into the cracks. Phew!!!
Paint a pair of chipboard hinge brackets with brown craft paint and allow to dry. Then using your ink blending tool, shade with black ink. This creates a "rusty" look.
Step 6:
Using a hole poker or other sharp tool, (thumb tacks work well, too) make holes all the way through your chipboard piece and add small brad fasteners through holes to secure.
Add chipboard to tag. I prefer to use hot glue to attach most of my decorative elements to my tags, but any other adhesives should work just fine for this step.
Using black ink, stamp sentiment onto tag.
Add other finished touches to your tag. I chose a butterfly with rhinestones, a cream paper flower and a vintage button. Add a pretty ribbon to the top and you're done!
So there you have it- Fall Tag #2! Don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win some goodies at the end of the 12 days. Thanks for stopping by! :)
later,
nancy
