Now that Halloween is over, I am officially in "Fall" mode, and wanting to fill my home with all the fabulous colors of the season. What better way to do just that than to craft some fun decor to fit the mood!
I have always enjoyed playing along with Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas every December, and so this year I decided to do my own "12 Tags of Fall". Granted, my step-by-steps will not be as fabulously detailed as his, and I simply cannot provide a link to EVERY. SINGLE. PRODUCT I use, but you get the idea!
So here is Fall Tag #1:
Using a text stamp and brown ink, stamp text onto tag.
Using "fall-ish" colors of ink and an ink blending tool (not pictured), cover the tag with smudges of ink.
Step 3:
Using a mask (I like this one by Prima) and your ink blending tool (not pictured), go over the mask with a darker brown. When you remove the mask, the effect below is what you'll get. Cool huh?
Using spray mists, add additional colors to your tag and allow to dry (a heat gun will help this along). I used colors called Tiger Lily and Burnt Red.
Using a bit of tap water, wet your fingers, and flick water onto your tag. This will smudge the ink on your tags, and when you heat with a heat gun, the effect below is what you'll get. LOVE this trick, thanks to Tim!
Step 6:
Using an edge distresser, scrape the edges of your tag. Then using your ink blending tool (FINALLY pictured), add dark brown ink to all the edges.
Using rub-ons, stamps, or whatever else you have, add a couple images or sentiments to your tag (the ones I used in the pic below came from the $1 bin at Michaels).
Using hot glue, add a couple of fall leaves to your tag.
Hot glue more stuff onto your tag- trims, ribbon, butt0ns, whatever is in your stash, add a ribbon to the top and you're done!
So there you go. Fall Tag #1. Thanks for stopping by and come back tomorrow for another fun tag!
later,
nancy
