Happy Monday everyone! I am so excited to share a few pages I worked on over the weekend! I am having soooooo much fun playing along with the color challenges at both Color Combos Galore and The Color Room! They both have weekly color palettes and inspiration photos to get you going. And since I have a lifetime's worth of patterned paper in every shade under the rainbow, the challenges are a good way to use up some of my stash. The main goal is to follow the palette as closely as possible, and then you can also use the sketch or photo for inspiration so for challenge #25, I did both!
So first off is this weeks challenge at The Color Room:
I really like how the tan cookie in the inspiration photo shows underneath the pretty colors of frosting, so I used that same color as the base for my page. Of course, I followed the sketch fairly close and added strips of patterned paper and ribbons to "frost" my page. :) I also loved the frosting dots in the inspiration photo, so I used white 3-D paint to add dots to my layout. I dyed a white paper rose to match the palette as well. I dyed the rose weeks ago, and have just had it sitting on my desk, so it was just a fluke that it matched this week's pallete so well! I love the scallop edge of the cookies, so I used four different scallop edges on my page. I used two different sizes of edging scissors and two different border punches to make them. It was difficult to find the right colors of patterned paper for this challenge, so I had to dig thru some really old Bohemia by MME to find what I needed, but I think it turned out close! What do you think?

The Color Room #24
So I am working a bit backwards, but this is last week's challenge at The Color Room.
Aren't these colors just so light and fresh?!!! LUV them!
My take:
So this was an easy one for me. Seriously, this page took me all of 20 minutes (not including the time it took to dye the rose ribbon trim- but that only took about 1o minutes). So my blue is a little off and my tan is a little lighter than the palette, but I am happy with it. I love this pic of Andy and I! Isn't it just so cute?! I thought it was kind of funny to use the word "savor" in the title since Andy and I are kissing, but the name of the food and wine festival was "Savor Idaho". So it is kind of a play on words. :) I loved the patterned paper by The Girl's Paperie so much (the one in the background with all the cirles) that I punched out additional circles and just scattered them in the bottom right corner of the page. Kind of reminds me of bubbles. And after drinking all that wine at the festival, I was definitely bubbly!!!
Thanks for looking!
later,
nancy
