As many of you know, I am going to be teaching classes at a FAB new store in Boise, Idaho. "Scrappers & Stampers Delight" (SSD) on the corner of Cole and Ustick in the old Joann's building. AND they have also hired me to do many of their store displays as well! I am obviously VERY excited about that since I have rarely met a free scrapbook product I didn't like. :) The owner, Mary, and I walked the store picking out products that would make fun pages for various displays. These are what I came up with.
Abby Road collection by My Mind's Eye:
"Best Friends"
So for the page above, I just cut and layered several papers from the collection and used a few different sizes of circle punches to create the patterned circle elements. I also used dimensional foam tape to really pop the elements off the page. I finished it off with pretty buttons and journaling strips also popped off the page. I used pen-work to outline the different papers to give them a bit of definition.
"Fabulous"
The above page is my fave out of all the ones I added today. ;)These colors just make me happy with the pink, aqua, lime, and a bit of orange for that pop! So fresh and springy, and the page is about shopping in Walt Disney World, so what is not to love? If you look closely, you can see a hint of an aqua core peeking out from under the light brown cardstock. I sanded the edges of a sheet of Core'dinations cardstock from their chocolate box collection to reveal the blue core. I just LOVE that stuff!
"Best Buds"
The above page was super quick to put together once I sanded and distressed all the edges of the pieces. Just strips of patterned paper sewn down and then circles and photos scattered about. A quick, easy look you can create with any photos and patterned paper. This has always been a successful formula for a great page! And yup, I used my trusty old Dymo label maker for the journaling. :)
"Dinoland"
This "Dinoland" page is a bit more "involved" with a few more stategically placed elements, border punches, and hand-cut leaves. I also got out the inks for shading all the edges and used letter stamps for the title as well. The trick to "good-looking" stamped letters is to NOT worry about them lining up perfectly. If I worried about perfectly straight stamped letters, I would STILL not be done with this page! Also, make sure to use alphabets that lend themselves well to a bit of crooked placement. I prefer alphas that are made to look a bit worn, distressed or vintage. Formal alphabets do not always look good when they are wonky. In the case of more formal alphabets, use a guide ruler and clear acrylic stamps to make them more aligned and "pretty".
So for the following pages, I used some beautiful products from Webster's Pages.
"La Vie est Belle"
(That's French for "Life is Beautiful" and yes, it is!)
Besides their lush patterned papers, I also used a bit of Webster's Pages fabulous pleated ribbon to create the butterfly element and photo border. I love this stuff because it is already pleated for me and I don't have to get out my iron and burn myself trying to create perfect pleates! I also created my own little flowers with flower punches, white Stazon ink, and tiny gems for the centers. The vines are a leafy trim intertwined with a fancy green gathered ribbon and hot-glued to the page so it would stay put. :)
"Princess Parts"
I just LOVE this collection by Webster's Pages! It was perfect for these pics I took of my best friend and her new baby (who is now 2 yrs old). Wrapping the photo in tulle gave it that perfect baby soft look I was going for. I also used just a hint of Tim Holt's Distress Ink in "Tattered Rose" around the edges of the paper and elements for just a bit of shading and dimension. I love the look of the punched lace edge of the photo matte and the velvet circle medallions by Maya Road are just so pretty IRL! It does not show well in the photo, but I also sprayed the edges of the page with a bit of Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels in "Sea Glass" for a hint of pearlescent blue shimmer that finishes off the page nicely (if I do say so myself)!
Thanks for looking!
later,
